Alexs Zweigelt 2007 Burgenland 16.5 Drink 2009-2012 Young, ambitious grower in Gols. Bright, if very slighlty dusty, fruit with still quite a bit to give even though it is no spring chicken for a Zwiegelt. Warm, round, quite mineral fruit. Attractive balance. Really mouthfilling. Very honest and satisfying. 12.5%
Alexs, Reserve Blaufränkisch 2006 Burgenland 16.5 Drink 2008-2011 Appetising with an undertow of minerals and attractively dry. Peppery finish but the first burst of fruit is just slightly fading. But a good varietal expression with no excesses. 13.5%
Alexs Blaufränkisch 2007 Burgenland 17 Drink 2010-2014 Mid ruby. Lots of intensity and zest on the nose. Impressive minerals, fruit and grip on the palate. Cranberry flavours. The slightest bitterness on the finish. Impressive! Really biting. I think I prefer this to the slightly softer Reserve version. 13%
Alexs, Pahlen Zweigelt 2008 Burgenland 16 Drink 2010-2012 Very deep crimson. Almost rudely fruity on the nose! Sweet start and chock full of innocent fruit. Bursts with healthy ripeness even if it is not desperately complex. Could be a great wine by the glass for early drinking. 13.5%
Alexs St Laurent 2008 Burgenland 16 Drink 2012-2015 Light ruby. Pale rim. Sweetly perfumed. Quite delicate. Hint of violets and some attack. Just a little sweet on the palate. Then marked acidity. Quite youthful. 13.5%
